The Penman Has Returned More Wicked Than Ever

It’s been a hot minute since I last graced the feed and posted something here. A lot has happened and I suppose a lot also hasn’t happened! Still I’m here for you now as both Jay Mullings of Written Mirror and the artist known as Wicked Penman. Are you ready? Good let’s go!

Where have you been Penman?

Good question and fair to ask! The summarised answer to that; in my bag! Haha ???? I’ve always wanted to say that! I have been tinkering and expanding my horizons. The things I once boldly declared I would and could do? Well, I’ve mostly accomplished those in the 10 years since I began this website. I released The Thought Book 1 & The Thought Book 2 written, published and fully owned by yours truly. Two fully independent Ep’s 1WPM & LVL21 as well as completing and releasing The JAM feature length documentary as a one person crew undertaking every single role myself. I looked at the impossible and laughed in its face! 

However, that doesn’t answer where I’ve been? Mostly low-key, close to home and away from it all. I wasn’t hiding, don’t get it twisted; I grew on other platforms and perhaps leaned too far into trying to convince people I was everything I say I am. I’m much more than that! Thankfully, I am finally out of the place of needing to convince people to see it that way! When I say ‘Google me’ it literally is the answer for all those who refuse to see with their own eyes and listen with their own ears…

Are You Back Penman?

The real answer is that I never left! I’ve been creating and willing to create from July 4th, 2012 all the way until now. I have tried to stay as enthusiastic about learning and developing now as I was then. In some ways I achieved that and in others; I have encountered so many road blockers and career stunters that something has had to give. I’ve never done any of what I do to be famous and yet; that seems to be the only method to gain any serious consideration for anything these days. Want a grant for unknown creators? Be famous! Want a YouTube sponsorship to help you grow? Be famous already! 

You could be the most mediocre person on the planet! If you have a following, the world treats you like the most talented being to ever walk the earth. That goes against who I am and what I stand for. Now don’t mistake that for wanting to be underrated, quite the opposite – respect the will and the skills! The package comes untethered from a thirst for fame or adulation. I have 10 years worth of receipts…

What’s Next Penman?

Well, right now? I have a fight on my hands with Apple of all people and Barclaycard. Why?! Apparently when you’re someone like me, you don’t get to have your rights upheld or spoken to with any type of respect. Long story short, I don’t have the calibre of machinery I parted ways with my hard earned cash to receive. Apple seemingly has decided that it isn’t worth keeping high ticket customers such as myself happy and are daring me to take things further. Some people never learn it seems… 

Without the machinery to uphold the standards I’m accustomed to; there isn’t much I can do. After all, you would like to think someone who does all I do by myself would have the respect and possibly backing of a company like Apple but no; I’m just someone for them to attempt to trample all over. Additionally it’s quite the same with Barclaycard really. They lie, they manipulate and they evade consequences when in reality all they need to do is help! They don’t care and can’t bring themselves to. 

What To Takeaway Here?

I’m still here, just not as visible in some places. My Apple computer is a hunk of junk and I’m not ever changing the spirit of where my creativity comes from i.e Truthful Fearless Creativity…
